How much does taxi dispatch software cost?

Mostly between about £7 and £15 per unit per month — but the unit, the minimum, the onboarding fee and the contract term move the real bill far more than the rate. Here is the whole picture, vendor by vendor, with TaxiDex's published prices beside it.

The short answer

What you are shopping in

Taxi dispatch software is priced per unit per month, and the unit is the first thing to pin down: a driver, a vehicle, a licence or, on some platforms, a trip or a share of your card revenue. Cloud platforms mostly land between about £7 and £15 per unit per month. Then come three costs that are not in the rate: a monthly minimum you pay regardless of headcount, a one-off onboarding fee that is commonly quoted anywhere from £1,200 to £15,000, and the term you sign for.

Almost every vendor in this category quotes per fleet rather than publishing a price list, so the rival figures on this page are the numbers commonly quoted in the market — indicative, hedged, and to be checked against your own quote. TaxiDex publishes its rates, which is why they sit in the table below with no asterisk.

What TaxiDex costs

Per active driver, per month. An active driver is one who took work in the billing period, so a car with three drivers on rotation is billed for the drivers who actually drove.

Three worked examples

  • 5 drivers. Starter: 5 × £11 = £55, so the £79 minimum applies and the bill is £79 (about $100) a month. Below seven drivers the minimum, not the rate, is the number to budget for.
  • 25 drivers. Professional: 25 × £9 = £225 a month, or 25 × $11 = $275. The minimum does not bind.
  • 120 drivers. Enterprise from £7 per active driver — 120 × £7 = £840 a month as a starting point, with the exact rate quoted for the fleet.

Everything on the pricing page is included at every tier: the dispatch console, the TaxiDex driver app, a white-label passenger app and web booker, fares and tariffs, payments and driver settlements, and reporting.

One paragraph per vendor, taken from our individual cost guides. None of these vendors publishes a full rate card, so every figure is the one commonly quoted in the market, not a quote they issued — treat it as a ballpark to check your own quote against.

  • Autocab

Autocab does not publish a rate card. 40 per unit per month — indicative only, and we hold no Autocab price sheet.

  • Cab Treasure

Cab Treasure does not publish a price list and we hold no rate card for it, so no honest monthly figure exists — anyone quoting one precisely is guessing. It is quoted per fleet, commonly as a software licence counted against vehicles rather than active drivers; confirm which on your quote.

  • Cab9

Cab9 does not publish pricing and we hold no rate card, so any figure you find elsewhere is an estimate. It is commonly described as quoted per customer, as modules charged on usage — meaning the billing unit would be which capabilities you switch on and how hard you use them, rather than one per-vehicle rate.

  • Cabsoluit

Cabsoluit is commonly quoted at roughly £15–£350 a month, billed in bands by active vehicle rather than per booking, Cabsoluit is commonly quoted at roughly £15–£350 a month, billed in bands by active vehicle rather than per booking. We cannot derive a reliable per-vehicle rate from that, because the band boundaries are not published..

  • Limo Anywhere

Limo Anywhere does not publish a public rate card and we hold no copy of one. Widely reported figures put the base subscription at roughly $99 to $549+ a month, billed against tiered monthly trip buckets rather than per vehicle or per driver.

  • Onde

Onde does not publish a public rate card, and TaxiDex holds no copy of one. What is commonly described is a base platform fee plus a share of revenue, which means the billing unit is your gross fares rather than your driver or vehicle count — confirm that on your own quote.

  • Sherlock Taxi

Sherlock Taxi does not publish a rate card, and we hold no verified one. 50–£10 per vehicle per month, tiered by fleet size, with the lowest rate widely reported to require 500+ vehicles.

Pricing models

Per driver, per vehicle, per trip — or a share of revenue

Per active drivercharges for the people who worked. It tracks your payroll reality: a quiet month costs less, and a car shared by three drivers is billed for the three who drove, not for one licence. This is TaxiDex’s model.

Per vehicle or per licence charges for every car or seat on the contract whether or not it moved. It is simple to forecast and tends to favour fleets where one driver equals one car all month; it penalises fleets that run spare vehicles or day-and-night rotations.

Per trip, trip buckets and revenue share tie the bill to your bookings or your card takings. The rate looks small, but it is the only model where the bill rises because business went well — and a bucket you outgrow mid-month is charged per trip above it. Ask for the exact overage rate and the exact share before you sign.

Outside the rate

The costs that reorder shortlists

The minimum. Most platforms carry a monthly floor. Ours is £79 (about $100) and published; many are not published at all. For a six-car firm the floor is the real bill, so ask for it before multiplying any rate.

Onboarding. Commonly quoted between £1,200 and £15,000 in this market. A platform £2 a driver cheaper saves a 30-driver fleet £60 a month — £720 a year — so a £9,000 onboarding fee takes more than a decade to pay back. Do this arithmetic first.

Payment processing.Card fees are usually the processor’s, not the dispatch vendor’s; on revenue-share platforms they are the product. Know which you are buying.

Exit. Your customer, driver and trip history has a price when you leave: either an export fee, or the cost of rebuilding it. Our data portability guide lists what to ask for while you are still a paying customer.

FAQ

Cost questions operators ask

How much does taxi dispatch software cost per month?

Cloud taxi dispatch software mostly lands between about £7 and £15 per unit per month, where the unit is a driver, a vehicle or a licence depending on the vendor. On top of that sit a monthly minimum, a one-off onboarding fee and, on trip-based or revenue-share models, a charge that grows with your bookings. TaxiDex publishes its rates: £11/$14 per active driver (1–20 drivers), £9/$11 (21–100) and from £7/$9 (100+), with a £79/$100 monthly minimum.

What is the cheapest taxi dispatch software?

The cheapest headline rate is rarely the cheapest bill. A low per-vehicle figure can carry a high onboarding fee, a long contract term or a per-trip overage; a flat monthly plan can be cheap for a busy fleet and expensive for a quiet one. Compare the total for your fleet over twelve months — monthly rate × units, plus the minimum, plus onboarding — rather than the rate alone.

Is there free taxi dispatch software?

Free tiers and open-source dispatch projects exist, but the cost moves rather than disappears: hosting, map and SMS usage, payment processing, backups and the time somebody spends keeping it running. TaxiDex does not offer a free plan; it offers a 14-day trial so you can run real jobs before paying.

Do I pay per driver or per vehicle?

It depends on the vendor, and it is the first thing to confirm on any quote. Per-vehicle billing charges for every car on the licence whether or not it worked; per-active-driver billing, which TaxiDex uses, charges only for drivers who took work in the billing period. For a day-and-night fleet with several drivers per car the two models can land far apart, so run both against your own roster.

How much does a taxi dispatch system cost in the UK, the US or Australia?

The software itself is priced the same way everywhere — per unit, per month, in the vendor's currency — so the range above applies in each market. What changes locally is the rest of the bill: payment processing rates, SMS prices and the cost of the onboarding and training time. TaxiDex quotes in GBP and USD and bills the same per-driver rate in every country.

What setup or onboarding fees should I expect?

One-off implementation, migration and configuration fees in this market are commonly quoted between £1,200 and £15,000, depending on fleet size, how much history has to move and how complex the zones and tariffs are. TaxiDex charges a one-time setup fee scoped to the fleet and quoted up front on the demo call; it is not published as a fixed number. Whoever you choose, get the figure in writing before you compare monthly rates.
