Key facts
What must a taxi driver advert say?
The licence needed and from which authority, the working model, how pay works and what vehicle the driver uses. In England and Wales a private hire driver must hold a licence from the same authority as your operator licence and the vehicle, so say which council.[1]

Employed or self-employed: what should you write?

Frequently asked questions
What are the main duties of a taxi driver?
Driving passengers safely and on time, helping with luggage and accessibility, taking payment, keeping the vehicle clean and checked, and following licence conditions and the operator's code of conduct.
Do I need my own car to be a taxi driver?
Not always: many firms rent licensed vehicles to drivers or employ drivers in company cars. The advert should say which.
