Taxi driver contract: what to include (template outline)

A taxi driver agreement should state who the parties are, the driver's status, licences and checks, the vehicle arrangement, how money flows (rent, commission or wage), insurance, conduct and safeguarding duties, data and records, and how either side ends it. The outline below lists every clause to cover; have a solicitor turn it into the final contract.

Why does the contract's wording on status matter?

Because courts look at how the relationship works in practice, not only the words. In Uber BV v Aslam (2021) the UK Supreme Court unanimously held that the drivers were workers despite contracts describing them as independent, so a contract must match reality.[1][2]

The outline

Use it as a checklist with your solicitor; it is not a ready-to-sign contract.
