Key facts
What does Transportstyrelsen check?
Professional competence and financial standing. A sole trader or company shows capital and reserves of at least 100,000 kronor for one vehicle and 50,000 kronor for each additional vehicle, backed by bank statements; paid applications wait an estimated five to seven weeks before handling starts.[1]
What does it cost?
From Transportstyrelsen's fee table: 12,500 kronor to apply for a taxi traffic permit, 2,700 kronor to apply for a taxi driver ID (taxiförarlegitimation), 430 kronor to issue or renew the ID, and 18,000 kronor for a permit to run an accounting centre (redovisningscentral).[2]
How do vehicles and taximeters work?
Vehicles are registered for taxi traffic only after the permit is granted, through Transportstyrelsen's e-service, and at the same time you name the accounting centre to which the vehicle's taximeter sends its data.[1]
